Discussion
This set of symbols already indicates that no single visual stereotype exists for this kind of sporting activity: as snowboarding has developed various styles exercised on a multitude of terrains and obstacles, also pictograms differ to quite an extent.
We could not find any detailed test data concerning graphic symbols for Snowboarding in our database, but there is some information concerning comprehensibility of one pictogram available: since all pictograms that failed comprehension testing for the Parks Canada Identity Program (2007) have been retired from use there, the Parks Canada pictogram No 6-4-305: Snowboarding displayed above (labeled PC) must have reached a comprehension rate of at least 60 % and less than 80 %, as this variant does not have the status Retired, but should be accompanied by a supportive text message.
Recommendations
As we expect the design above to be well comprehensible, we recommend using a pictogram similar to Public Information Symbol No 157 of ÖNORM A 3011 part 10 for general applications.
