A core group of dedicated graphic designers and wayfinding experts was responsible for most of the pictogram creations represented in the Austrian Standard A 3011. They formed the working group 6 of the relevant committee FNA 133 of the Austrian Standards Institute which was excellently managed by Manfred Machek for many years.
Below a list of members of this working group in the years 1975 to 2000, in alphabetical order. This list might be incomplete.

It has to be mentioned that since 1967 Peter Simlinger contributed constantly and like no other person to the development of guiding systems for passenger and pedestrian orientation and especially to standards related to public information symbols. For many years he was the driving force in national and international research projects aimed at improving pictograms/public information symbols on a scientific basis. In 1986 he also founded the International Institute for Information Design (IIID) as a non-profit membership organisation to advance research and practice in optimizing information and information systems for knowledge transfer in everyday life, business, education and science.
